Our Story: Making big scary changes
Hello and welcome to our life and adventures!
We are Barry and Tamara, a couple of digital nomads who specialise in website design, social media curation, photography and film. Currently, we have been on the road 1 year and are currently in Greece.
This is our story so far and how we ended up in a campervan. We hope you enjoy it and like us.
We are both from Scotland ‘Och Aye!’ but strangely met in a nightclub when we lived eleven years ago in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. At the time, Barry was a whisky brand ambassador in S.E. Asia. At the same time, Tamara was a T.V. presenter on a travel show.
Instantly, we connected, fell head over heels for each other, and have been inseparable ever since.
Soon after meeting, an opportunity allowed us to move to Australia, and that is when the boys joined our family. First, our loving and equally annoying Scottish fold/British shorthair cross is called Hamish. A few years later, Barrys’ best friend Leonidas(Leo), a slightly grumpy blue cane corso joined the clan.
After four years of good times, we packed and moved the family to Scandinavia, where we travelled and lived in a caravan.

Bad news
A double blow of loss
Our time there was cut short when we received the tragic news that Barry’s father was diagnosed with bladder cancer.
After a two-year battle, he passed, we stayed in Scotland to care for Barrys’ mother, who suffered from long term health issues.
Unfortunately, mum’s condition got worse, and she was moved to a care home because she needed specialist care. Soon after, she passed, with us not allowed to see her or physically say goodbye due to the pandemic.
With the passing of Barrys’ parents and lockdown living, we started asking ourselves some philosophical questions.
1. Are we living the life we want, where we want?
2. What will make us happy now and in the long run?
The first question was easy. NO! The second was a little trickier, but we knew we would not be able to answer it by doing the same thing in the same place with the echo of ghosts and heartbreak all around.
So we bought a van, fixed it up, gave it a name, closed a business, packed up a house, pets and hit the road. Our plan; see the world and start living again by our rules, unhampered by restrictions or at least balancing them out with the freedom travel gives.
There is the term B.H.A.G. in the business world, which means Big Hairy Audacious Goal. We decided to apply it to our lives, so here we are, forging ahead and grabbing life by the coconuts.
In 2022 we visited 20 countries, here’s to another 20 in 2023.
